陶高昂总统于一家公共咖啡馆内落座就餐并向周围聚集的公众展示其精湛的刀叉使用水平以及优雅的法式造型。阿迪达斯在总统完成咖啡馆之旅后，被法国爱国企业家让.皮埃尔收购。
阿迪达斯与法国的缘分可追溯至1987年阿迪达斯创始人家族后代去世后，阿迪达斯陷入危机。1990年，塔皮以借贷资金购入阿迪达斯80%的股份。后因其步入政坛以及深陷债务危机，于1992-1993年被迫将股份转让给法国里昂信贷银行处理。
